Bear Hugs Dog groomers provide a friendly, tailored grooming service for dogs in a calm, clean and safe environment. When pampering your pet we consider the dog's personality, health and your styling preference. You can have peace of mind knowing that we use high quality, shampoos & conditioners that are packed with essential oils. Customer service and satisfaction is of the highest importance; so, when you drop off your dog, we will discuss everything about your dog so we can fully understand their little 'quirks' and personality that make them an individual.   Sharon is the owner and head stylist at Bear Hugs Dog Grooming Salon. She has a genuine love for dogs. She has two Cockapoo’s of her own Buddy and Bear. Sharon holds a City & Guilds qualification in Dog Grooming.  She is also trained in canine first aid. Sharon believes that dogs are more than 'just pets' so feels privileged every time a client entrusts her to pamper their furbaby. She treats each dog as if he/she is her own with kindness and respect.

Sharon has created a purpose build dog grooming salon in Minworth, Sutton Coldfield. Her aim is to put your furry friend at ease in her calm, friendly and relaxed environment. Sharon believes the welfare of your dog is the most important part of being a groomer. 
Being a dog groomer involves caring for a dog's hygiene and appearance through tasks such as bathing, dryong, brushing and clipping their coats as well as nail trimming and ear cleaning . It also includes understanding the dog behavior, breed-specific grooming and needs and providing advice to owners.

Sharon believes that it is important to groom your dog regular as it is an opportunity 
to check for health issues , grooming is the perfect opportunity to check out your dog’s body
on a regular basis as there can be times where your dog may have developed lumps, 
bumps, cuts, grazes or even swelling.  These may be in places that you don’t necessarily
spot during your day to day interactions with them.  Additional things to look out for
include fleas or ticks, ears, teeth, the brightness of eyes and coat. Regular visits to the 
groomers will help you spot any issues early and will prompt owners to make an 
appointment for a veterinary health check. !

Some dogs coats can become matted if not bathed and brushed thoroughly they can form
into heavy bulk mats and when close to the skin, this can be very sore for the dog.  Bear
has a habit of getting these right behind his ear and between her upper arm and chest,  
so I know to keep these area short and do regular check on these areas.

During your dogs groom Sharon will check paw  pads  as they can become matted and 
must be regularly checked, clipped and tidied up. These areas, in particular, can become
hard with dirt and great, causing some
discomfort and are easy to get missed if your dog has a shorter body hair but thicker
leg/paw hair.

Your dog’s ears may have hair deep in the canal that needs to be removed. Some dogs can 
also be prone to ear infections and may require more regular cleaning, along with hair 
removal, to avoid regular
trips to the vets.

Sharon will  check their nails over properly.  If your dog’s nails aren’t looking after themselves, their untrimmed
nails can break, bleed or even grow into their feet, causing them a lot of discomfort.  That includes those dew
claws which can sometimes be overlooked!








Not forgetting your dogs teeth ! 

Sharon uses Ultrasound tooth cleaning equipment. Ultrasound reaches deep below the gum line to kill germs and bacteria and cleans the teeth and gums to prevent the build-up of plaque and tartar. At the same time, it increases the blood flow to the gums to heal wounds and stop bleeding. 

Ultrasound teeth cleaning for your dog….         £25 per session.  Several sessions may be required dependent on the condition of your dogs teeth
